Pricing in Massachusetts
What IKEA kitchen installation costs here in 2026
Massachusetts houses are old, and that is where a specialist earns the fee. Plaster-and-lath walls, floors that drop an inch across the room and ceilings that were never level are normal here. We plan for them in the quote instead of discovering them on installation day.
These are the ranges we see on real quotes. Your number depends on cabinet count, tall and corner units, walls and floors, and which add-ons you want us to handle. The cost calculator gives you a range in a minute; a free plan review gives you an exact quote.

Local knowledge
What is different about installing in Massachusetts
Your IKEA store: IKEA Stoughton
Most Massachusetts kitchens come from IKEA Stoughton, off Route 24 south of Boston. IKEA delivers statewide, and we schedule installation to start the day after your delivery window so boxes are not sitting in your living room for weeks. If you are in Boston, Cambridge or Somerville, tell us about parking and stairs: a third-floor walk-up or a building that requires a certificate of insurance changes how we staff the day, not whether we can do it.
Permits and registration in Massachusetts
Replacing cabinets in the same footprint is often treated as ordinary repair by local building departments, but every town decides for itself, so confirm before you start. Any plumbing, electrical or gas work must be done by licensed trades and typically needs permits. Massachusetts requires Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) registration for residential remodeling contractors; you can look up any contractor on mass.gov, and we are happy to send our registration and certificate of insurance with the quote.
The housing stock we work in
Boston, Worcester, Lowell and New Bedford triple-deckers with galley kitchens and no square corners. Cambridge and Newton Victorians with plaster walls and original trim worth keeping. Post-war Capes and ranches in Braintree, Framingham and Natick with 7½-foot ceilings that make stacked wall cabinets impossible and bulkheads sensible. Condos in Boston and Brookline with elevator bookings and quiet hours. We have installed in all of them.
Seasons and scheduling
Winter installations are fine indoors, but IKEA delivery windows stretch around the holidays and storms, and quartz fabricators run longer lead times in December and January. If you want the kitchen finished before a specific date, order six to eight weeks ahead and book installation when the delivery date is confirmed. Read our seasonal planning guide for the month-by-month picture.
Sales tax and budgeting
IKEA charges Massachusetts sales tax on cabinets and countertops at the time of writing, so add it to your materials budget. Installation labor is quoted separately from materials, and our estimates are itemized so you can see exactly what you are paying for and what you could do yourself.
