Pricing in Rhode Island
What IKEA kitchen installation costs here in 2026
The state is small enough that we reach every town in under an hour from the Providence area, so distance never changes the price. What does change it is the age of the house, and Rhode Island has some of the oldest housing stock in the country.
These are the ranges we see on real quotes. Your number depends on cabinet count, tall and corner units, walls and floors, and which add-ons you want us to handle. The cost calculator gives you a range in a minute; a free plan review gives you an exact quote.

How it works
From IKEA plan to finished kitchen
- 1
Send your plan
Upload the IKEA Kitchen Planner PDF and item list. We check it for missing fillers, cover panels, hinges and clearances, free, and send an itemized estimate within 3 hours.
- 2
Order and schedule
Order at IKEA Stoughton (or New Haven) or online with delivery. We book installation to start right after your delivery window and tell you exactly what to have ready.
- 3
Delivery day inventory
We check every box against your order list before assembly starts, so missing or damaged parts are reported the same day instead of stopping the job mid-week.
- 4
Installation
One to seven days on site depending on size. Suspension rail, base and wall cabinets, leveling, doors, drawers, hardware, fillers, toe kicks, cleanup. Countertops are templated after cabinets are set.
Local knowledge
What is different about installing in Rhode Island
Your IKEA store: IKEA Stoughton (or New Haven)
Most Rhode Island customers order from IKEA Stoughton, about 45 minutes from Providence, and take IKEA delivery; western Rhode Island is roughly equidistant from New Haven. Because there is no local store for a quick parts run, we inventory every box against your order list on delivery day and report anything missing or damaged immediately, so replacements are on their way before installation starts. Our missing-parts guide explains exactly what to check.
Registration and permits in Rhode Island
Rhode Island requires contractors doing residential work to register with the Contractors' Registration and Licensing Board, and the CRLB lookup will show any contractor's registration and insurance status. We provide our registration number and certificate of insurance with every quote. Permit requirements for cabinet replacement are set by each city or town's building official; plumbing, electrical and gas work require licensed trades and permits everywhere in the state.
Providence, the suburbs and the coast
Providence means triple-deckers in Elmhurst and Silver Lake, Victorians on the East Side with plaster walls and tall ceilings, and condos downtown. Warwick, Cranston, Johnston and Coventry are largely post-war capes and ranches with lower ceilings where bulkheads and 30-inch wall cabinets make sense. Newport, Bristol, Barrington and Narragansett bring older coastal homes where we pay attention to hardware finishes and ventilation because of salt air.
Historic districts
Providence, Newport and Bristol have historic district commissions, but their review generally covers exterior changes, not interior kitchen work. Confirm with your city if your project touches windows or exterior walls. Interior permits still follow the normal building department process.
Sales tax and budgeting
IKEA charges Rhode Island sales tax on delivered orders at the time of writing, so include it in the materials budget. Our installation estimates are itemized, and because the state is compact we do not add travel charges anywhere in Rhode Island.
